Bobcat track teams shine at Shoshoni

The Bobcats and Lady Cat track teams competed in Shoshoni on Tuesday, April 15 and both teams put in a remarkable effort. While the Bobcats finished in first place in the team standings with a combined score of 287 (more than one hundred points higher than second place Kemmerer), the Lady Cats finished second to Kemmerer, with a team score of 69.

The weather and field conditions were both exceptional for an early spring event, and combined to drive the Thermopolis teams to a total of thirteen first place finishes. Robert Buckner finished first in the long jump (19-4); Logann Farrell finished first in the triple jump (33-5); and Cole Keller finished first in the triple jump (40-3).

Chris Arends finished first in the pole vault (11-0); Delmonico Dukes finished first in the 100 meter dash (11.71); and Izzie Hetzel finished first in the 1600 meter run (6:28.44). Jadeth Elder finished first in the 1600 meter run (4:57.33) and in the 3200 meter run (10:57.78); Cole Keller finished first in the 400 meter dash (21.89); Jacoby Elder finished first in the 800 meter run (2:10.66) and second in the 1600 meter run (5:09.57); and Del Dukes finished first in the 200 meter dash (23.06).

The team of Jordan Garrison, Logan Dafoe, Ryan Arends and Ammon Gevas finished first in the 4x800 meter relay (8:55.93), and the team of Armani Dukes, Ammon Gevas, Logan Dafoe and Cole Keller placed first in the 4x400 meter relay (3:37.66). The Bobcats were second in the 1600 meter sprint medley relay (4:42.47) with team members Orion Jenks, Clayton Keller, Clint Kimes and Bryce Potter. The Lads Cats were second in the sprint medley relay (5:36.44) with Summer Galovich, Matea Vargas, Ella Slover and Mimi Johnson.

Anthony Cheatham finished second in shot put (44-10), and in discus throw (117-1). Brody Sorensen finished third in shot put (38-7.5) and James Whitt finished fifth in shot put (37-5). Armani Dukes finished third in discus throw (116-11). Dell Dukes finished third in the long jump (19-2) and third in the 400 meter dash (56.06). Stetson Moody finished fourth in the long jump (18-11.5), fifth in the 110 meter hurdles (18.34), and fourth in the 300 meter hurdles (45.87).

Orion Jenks finished fifth in the triple jump (34-0). Matea Vargas finished fourth in the high jump (4-2). Davian Martinez finished second in the high jump (6-0), fourth in the 110 meter hurdles (18.11) and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles (46.64). Dyllan Meyers finished third in the pole vault (9-6) while Ryan Arends finished fourth (9-6).

Logann Farrell finished fifth in the 100 meter dash (13.46), second in the 400 meter dash (1:06.93), and fourth in the 200 meter dash (28.23). Robert Buckner finished second in the 100 meter dash (11.73), and third in the 200 meter dash (24.67). Zane Stam finished fifth in the 100 meter dash (12.01), and fourth in the 200 meter dash (25.02). In the 400 meter dash Ammon Gevas finished second (53.27).

Jordan Garrison finished fourth in the 400 meter dash (57.26). Van Epperson finished second in the 300 meter hurdles (44.38). Nolan Collins finished third in the 300 meter hurdles (45.18). Izzie Hetzel finished second in the 800 meter run (2:55.14), while Mimi Johnson finished fifth (3:11.93). Ryan Arends finished second in the 800 meter run (2:10.94).

With all those points adding up Coach, Boone Bowker said, “We got a little sunburned in Shoshoni, but It was a good day to be a Bobcat.”

The Bobcats and Lady Cats will travel to Douglas on April 25 and will then compete in Buffalo on May 1. Coach Bowker said, “We have some good competitions coming up. We need to stay healthy, but we are showing that we have what it takes to compete.”
