Golf practice set to begin

Following a frenetically paced winter sports season, which saw the Hot Springs County High School Bobcats and Lady Cats basketball and wrestling teams outperforming their opponents on the mat, as well as on the court, it is time to look forward to spring sports competition.

The Bobcats golfers finished as State Champions at last September’s state tournament, and the Lady Cats, following their own State Championship outing in the fall of 2023, finished the state tournament as runners-up. With the two championship wins in the last two years, Hot Springs County has now brought home six team state championships in the past seven years.

Coach Brandon Deromedi has scheduled the first practice for the spring season to commence on Monday, March 31. The boys and girls teams will kick off the spring season with back-to-back tournaments at Green Hills Golf Course in Worland - with Worland hosting a tournament on April 4, followed by a Ten Sleep hosted tournament on April 11. The Cats and Lady Cats will then host their own spring tournament on April 17.

With both high school and middle school golfers eligible to play in the spring season, Coach Deromedi will head a combined team, which at the start of the season will comprise more than 35 players. Coach Deromedi said “We have a lot of good kids who want to play golf in the spring, and without the help of volunteer Assistant Coach Ryan Shaffer, there is no way I could manage a team that large. I am always grateful for his help.”
