The Hot Springs County High School track teams will kick off their season this week, with a meet in Burlington on Friday, March 28. Last year, the teams qualified 31 competitors for the state tournament, and the teams hope to exceed that number this time around.
Football Head Coach Boone Bowker will take the helm for the Bobcats and Lady Cats track teams this year, and will be aided by Assistant Coaches Darren Elder, Dessire Egger, Ryan Williams, and Bill Faller. Coach Bowker has used his influence to bring some new arrivals to the team, which will be comprised of 14 Lady Cats, and 37 Bobcats.
Upcoming meets in the month of April will include: Glenrock on April 4; Greybull on April 5; Shoshoni on April 17; and Douglas on April 25. It is yet to be determined where the teams will compete on April 11. In May, the teams are set to compete at either Lovell or Casper on May 2; Riverton on May 3; and will then finish up the regular season at home on May 9.
The regional tournament will be held in Shoshoni on May 16 followed by the State Championships tournament in Casper on May 22.
Much depends, of course, upon how kind, or fickle, Mother Nature may prove to be, however, the Bobcats and Lady Cats will be prepared to compete at the highest level, if given the chance.
