Anita Gertrude "Gert" Weisbeck, 67, of Thermopolis, Wyo., passed away on February 12, 2025. She was born on July 20, 1957, in Buffalo, N. Y., to Konrad and Emma (Niedermeier) Fuchs.
Gert grew up in Attica, N. Y., and graduated from Attica High School before earning her Registered Nursing degree from SUNY GCC in Batavia, N. Y. She married the love of her life, Peter Weisbeck, on August 24, 1985, in Varysburg, N. Y. In 2003, they moved west to Thermopolis, Wyo., where she continued her lifelong passion for nursing and community care.
Throughout her career, Gert was a dedicated ICU nurse in New York before transitioning to Med-Surg nursing in Worland, Wyo. She spent the last 20 years as a compassionate Public Health Nurse in Thermopolis, where she made a lasting impact on the lives of those she served.
Gert had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished time spent camping, hunting, and gardening. She was an avid horseback rider, competing in various events, and had a special bond with her horses, goats, and beloved border collies. A devoted Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Sabres fan, she never missed cheering for her teams. She also had a passion for music and attended the Nowoodstock Festival in Tensleep, Wyo., every year. Above all, she treasured time with her grandchildren, Teddy and Grant, who brought immense joy to her life.
She is survived by her husband, Peter Weisbeck of Thermopolis, Wyo.; father, Konrad Fuchs of Buffalo, N.Y.; son, Ben Weisbeck and wife, Mariah of Driggs, Idah; daughter, Erica Wallover and husband, Mike of Buffalo, Wyo.; grandchildren, Teddy, Grant, and Benny (born March 5th); sister, Carol Hill of Buffalo, N.Y.; sisters-in-law, Meg Raines and husband, Chris of Chelan, Wash., and Linda Sabo and husband, Don Sabo of Marietta, Ga.; and brother-in-law, Jim Weisbeck and wife, Alison of Thermopolis, Wyo.
Gert was preceded in death by her mother, Emma Fuchs of Buffalo, N.Y.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a local public health or animal rescue organization in her name.
Gert will be dearly missed but forever remembered for her kindness, dedication, and adventurous spirit.
