On March 13, at the Hot Springs County School District #1 Board of Trustees meeting, Superintendent Dustin Hunt submitted his resignation, ending his employment on June 30, 2025. During the business, Vice Chair Marshall Keller made the motion to accept the letter of resignation, Trustee Jean Skelton, seconded. The board voted and passed the approval to accept the resignation. Trustee Jennifer Axtell did not vote, and Trustees Sherman Skelton and Nichole Weyer were absent.
Additionally, Trustee Axtell motioned that the board hire the Wyoming School Board Association (WSBA) to conduct a search for Hunt’s replacement. Chairman Justin Budd agreed and said the WSBA is “what’s best for the district.” Trustee Jean Skelton also discussed the budget for hiring the WSBA. The board voted and passed the approval to hire the WSBA for the search of a new superintendent with all present in agreement.
The new superintendent, once selected and hired, will have a July 1, 2025 start date.
