Double R Store opens for season

Tom and Jessie Ream's Double R Store located at 901 Shoshoni Street is open for the 2025 season. They originally started the business as a trial run on August 1 of last year and closed down at the end of October. Now they are open for their first full season as of March 13. 

The Double R Store serves as a sandwich shop and a supply store for fishermen getting on the river. This type of business was originally their wish, but Jessie said, "We couldn't find anybody to do it, so we did it ourselves."

Jessie added, "All of our sandwiches are meant to be packaged to go on the river or outdoors. Our idea was for fishermen to come in in the morning, get their sandwiches for the day. Get some gear if they need it. And then get on the water. Our store is just like stuff that you might need to have a good day on the river."

Double R Sandwiches have locally inspired names such as the Roundtop, Wedding of the Waters, Cutthroat, The Bighorn, Messy Jessie, As You Wish, and The Tom. Ingredients range from ham, turkey, smoked gouda, roast beef, bacon, bologna and much more.

Regarding the food products, Jessie said, "One thing that we're trying to do is to have a good product that isn't full of preservatives. We are mindful about the ingredients. I wouldn't say we're perfect, but we do our absolute best. All of our lunch meat doesn't have high fructose."

Also, their sandwich ingredients are brought in from the region. Such as bread coming from Grains of Montana and lettuce from Greybull. 

Regarding their drinks, they sell alternatives from soda and have "better for you drinks" with a variety of flavors. They have tea, lemonade, and soda water and customers can mix those with a plant-based energy drink flavors.

In addition to their sandwiches, Tom and Jessie Ream sell fisherman clothing, such as Grundens jackets, sweatshirts, waders, sun shirts, and other clothes. Tom said, "They're like Carhart for fishermen." They also sell Cortland gear such as rods and fishing lines. Jessie added they sell Fishe items, which is a woman-owned company that has "really cool patterns." They also sell Igloo products and are a Hyde drift boat dealer who can order parts.

Jessie also said, "We want people to be able to get something that they need for the day and not have to go out of town." Tom added, "And there's a lot of people in town that just wanted a sandwich shop."

The Double R Store has a ramp out their back toward the river. They do storage for guides and boats. Tom said, "People can come off the water and go up and grab a sandwich." Jessie added, "We want people to know that they can do that, that they can get off the water there. They can pull their kayak up or dock their boat and come up and get whatever they need. Sunscreen or a sandwich."
