Katherine 'Kathy' Jean Hobart

1956-2025

Kathy Hobart died peacefully on February 20, in Thermopolis, Wyo., after a period of declining health. Kathy was born on March 7, 1956, in Rapid City, S.D., to John D. (Don) and Margaret Hobart. She was joyfully welcomed by them and by her eight older brothers and sisters.

She spent her early years educated at schools for children with special needs in Rapid City, and religious education in the Cathedral parish there. When the family moved to Deerfield, west of Hill City, Kathy moved to the state facility at Redfield. She spent a few +years there until she was able to return to Rapid City when living accommodations became available. She was a participant at the Black Hills Workshop until 1994.

In 1994 she moved to Thermopolis where she became a participant at Big Horn Enterprises, and remained with them until her death. She loved her life with them and her life as a member of St. Francis Church. Her outgoing personality, her kindness to others, and her occasional orneriness will always be treasured memories.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers John, Paul, Steve, and Tom.

She is survived by her brother, Mark Hobart; and sisters, Margaret Gukeisen, Madonna McIntosh, and Beth (Mark) Opitz. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored, and many great nieces and nephews.

If you would like to make a donation in her memory to a tremendous facility, please consider Big Horn Enterprises in Thermopolis, Wyo. The family is extremely grateful to them for the love and care they gave to Kathy.  They will be forever in our prayers.

Funeral services and burial will be held in Rapid City when the family is able to gather.
