Helen Patrice Milek

1958-2025

Helen Patrice Milek, born to Glen and Jean Eisele (née Cook) on August 9, 1958, in Buffalo, Wyo., passed away peacefully on February 3, 2025, at her home in Lander, Wyo., surrounded by her loving family. She was 66 years old.

Helen grew up in Buffalo, completing her education in the Johnson County School District, where she formed many lifelong friendships. After graduating from Buffalo High School in 1976, she attended Casper College, earning an associate degree in business in 1978. Helen's adventurous spirit led her to pursue motorcycle trips to the Pines on Powder River Pass and exhilarating car rides with her close friends-moments that defined much of her early adulthood.

In December 1991, Helen married the love of her life, Bill Milek. The couple settled in Lander, Wyo., where they raised two sons, Josh (Betsy) and Nate (Whitney). Helen's love for adventure was shared by her boys, and together they spent countless hours in the Wyoming mountains and the Red Desert, riding four-wheelers and snowmobiles. Helen cherished quiet moments by the river, reading a good book while watching her boys cast their lines and catch fish.

Helen's professional career spanned over three decades, beginning in 1992 when she joined McKee, Marburger & Fagnant as a bookkeeper. Her dedication to her work and clients made her a vital member of the team until her retirement in July 2024.

A devoted grandmother, Helen adored spending time with her four grandchildren: Logan (17) and Evelyn (15), children of Josh and Betsy, and Macoy (14) and Wade (12), children of Nate and Whitney. Helen found great joy in attending her grandchildren's various activities and exploring new places during their excursions. When not with family, Helen was often traveling the world with her closest friends, soaking up the sun on a beach or discovering new destinations.

Helen was preceded by her beloved husband, Bill; parents, Glen and Jean Eisele; and many cherished family members and friends. She is survived by her sons, Josh and Nate, their families; brother, Pete; sister, Cynthia (Don); and many loving relatives.

Helen fought a courageous 14-month battle with pancreatic cancer, and her strength, grace, and spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. Her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family, but her memory will live on in the lives she touched.

A memorial service to celebrate her life was held on February 12 at the Monarch Room at the Pronghorn Lodge in Lander, Wyo. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Tunnels to Towers, Lander Pet Connection, and the Western Wyoming Epilepsy Fund.

Helen's adventurous spirit, love for family, and unwavering kindness will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
