Jacqueline Manning

1934-2025

Jacqueline Manning, 90, of Thermopolis, Wyo., died January 30, 2025. She was born May 25, 1934, in Hudson, Mich., to Layton and Florence Coman and she spent her childhood living in Michigan. Jackie was baptized on May 3, 1949 at the Church of Christ in Waldron, Mich., at age 14.

She graduated from high school in 1952 in Michigan and went to dental hygiene school at Northwestern University. While in dental hygiene school, she met Frank Manning and they married on June 13, 1955 at Chicago Temple First Methodist Church. Frank was 24 and Jackie was 21. They returned to his hometown of Thermopolis, Wyoming., in 1957 and started a dental practice. Jackie and Frank were partners in life, working to run their dental practice in Thermopolis for 41 years. Jackie also worked hard as a mother, helping to raise their four children, Beth, Doug, Dave, and Brenda. Jackie and Frank were married for 54 years. Jackie was preceded in death by Frank in 2010.

Jackie was always faithful and active in her church community and was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church alongside Frank on May 25, 1958. Jackie was known at her church for being willing to joyfully serve in any role she was asked to. Jackie was a part of the same weekly women’s Bible study for many years, including 15 years where she hosted it in her own home. She continued to host the Bible study for her final few years while living in the Pioneer Home in Thermopolis.

Jackie was known for cultivating joyous relationships in her life including supporting Frank in his many endeavors of art/painting, travel, woodworking and remodeling, as well as photography and service to his community. She found joy in generously hosting her loved ones in her home and being the supportive voice in many lives. Anyone who knew Jackie witnessed her deep trust in her Savior, Jesus Christ. The love that Jesus had shown her in dying for her sins was the same love she sought to extend to those around her. She was also a lifelong avid reader and loved her time being a part of the Holy Cats singing group.

Jackie is survived by her four children, Beth Drake and her husband Dr. Guy Drake of Post Falls, Idaho, Doug Manning and his wife Mary of Issaquah, Wash., Dave Manning and his wife Jenny of Gillette, Wyo., and Brenda Smith and her husband Terry of Kennewick, Wash. She is also survived by her younger brother, Stephen Coman and his wife Shannon; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three nieces; and and one nephew.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church or to the KFUO Lutheran Radio.

A Memorial Service will be held on July 3 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thermopolis.
