Kenneth Harold Averill

Kenneth Harold Averill, known affectionately as Ken, was born on December 26, 1949, in Lansing, Mich. He passed away peacefully on December 30, 2024, in Casper, Wyo. For the past over 20 years he had made his forever home in Thermopolis, Wyo.

Ken was a devoted family man, cherishing every moment spent with his children, Angela, Teresa, and Jeffery, as well as his beloved grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Taylor Grams, Brianna Grams, Dalanie Leven, Dayna Mathews, Macy Conaty and Abel Bolton Averill, along with great-granddaughters Elaina Lopez and Enzlee Leven. Kenneth went home on December 30h, 2024, to his parents, Harold and Catherine Averill; his brother, Robert “Bob”; as well as his beloved wife, Mary Katherine Averill.

His love for family was paramount, and he found joy in their laughter and presence.

A passionate entrepreneur, Ken founded his own tree trimming company, starting with just two men and a chainsaw. Through hard work and dedication, he built the business from the ground up, earning the respect and admiration of many in his community. His commitment to healing others extended beyond his profession; he was deeply involved in his church, where he guided and supported those in need, sharing his faith and wisdom with a selfless spirit.

Ken enjoyed a variety of hobbies, including traveling, collecting, attending car shows, and visiting garage sales. He found solace in tree trimming, and he was an avid motorcyclist. He faced life’s challenges head-on, bravely battling multiple instances of cancer, and his resilience inspired those around him.

He had a favorite saying: “Don’t let it steal your peace,” which reflected his unwavering positivity and outlook on life. Ken’s presence will be missed but not forgotten, as his legacy of love, faith, and service continues to touch the hearts of many. He leaves behind his children and grandchildren, who carry forward his spirit and values.
