First Day Hike

Early in the morning in Hot Springs State Park, facing frigid temperatures, a large gathering of hikers celebrated the 2025 Year's First Day Hike. State Park Superintendent Chris Delay and his daughter, Hazel, 8, led the pack of chilled hikers down the trail north of the cooling ponds and terraces. The hike started at the Smoking Waters Shelter, supplied with hot cocoa and several fire pits to keep warm.
