On Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, at 4:05 a.m., Katherina Rose Wurtz Tanner passed away leaving this Earth. Katherina has three children: Sheridan, Shylow and Levi, who passed away of COVID in 2021.
Katherina was a free spirit who loved the land and loved God. She converted to the Church of Mormon where she found peace and belonging. Kat has family all over the country and loved looking up information about the Wurtz family tree or anyone who wanted to know more about their family history. Kat had a photography business taking photos of weddings, anniversaries, parties or just still photos of the land.
Kat has five siblings: Jerry, Donnie, Karl, Lelia and Alice. Parents are Jessie Gene and Donal Lee. Kat drove large trucks for a living in her 20s and most of her 30s to support her family in Texas (Highway Department).
Kat divorced William A. Tanner in 1991. In 1999 Kat moved her family to Gillette, Wyo., where she worked for the Gillette Highway Department and eventually drove for a concrete company. Kat moved back to Texas to take care of her grandson, Domanic who is a son to Sheridan. Kat worked at Wal Mart in Liberty, Texas, while caring for her grandson. She moved to Thermopolis, Wyo., where she called it the end of the road.
Kat leaves behind daughter Sheridan, grandchild, Julia and great-grandchildren, Ivy and Domanic; daughter Shylow, grandchildren, Drake and Jordyn; twin brother, Karl; sister Leila; and many other relatives.
Kat was very close with her family and celebrated the small victories in life. She reminded us to never take for granted the time you have with those you love. She is never forgotten. A celebration of life is planned for the spring.
