FFA members stay busy serving community

Big Springs FFA Members have been busy serving our community. Part of the FFA motto is “Living to Serve” and that’s exactly what members have been busy doing.

FFA members pitched in to purchase a full thanksgiving dinner for a family in town. Each person signed up to bring a specific item and the full meal was delivered to the family just before Thanksgiving.

FFA members set a goal to fill 20 boxes for Operation Christmas Child to send Christmas gifts to kids in Mexico. TMS students and staff all helped out and we filled 22 boxes to spread Christmas cheer to less fortunate kids.

The first week of December the FFA chapter host a food drive at the middle school. It was set up as a competition between school families to see who could bring in the most food items.

At the end of the week we collected a total of 514 items that were taken to the Episcopal Church to be added to the Community Christmas Basket program. Students took the food to the church and sorted it to be ready to pack boxes last Wednesday.

A group of FFA members went shopping around Thermop to purchase gifts for 2 of the Christmas angels picked out at Bank of Thermopolis.

They had an exciting time shopping and then wrapping the gifts for members of the community.
