Santa comes to town

Santa is coming to Thermopolis a few times before Christmas to visit with children and hear their Christmas wish lists.

This Saturday, Dec. 7, he will be at Thermopolis Hardware from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and he will be at Broadway Bakery following the downtown Lighted Christmas parade.

On Saturday, Dec. 14, Santa will be at Storyteller from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

Giving Tree

The Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce is hosting this year’s Giving Tree. The children benefiting from the Giving Tree and for birth to age 18. Only a parent or guardian can fill out the application. Each child will get two tags that reflect a want and a need. The applications must be turned in by the Monday, Dec. 9. Applications can be found at the Department of Family Services, Storyteller, Public Health or the Chamber of Commerce. 

The Giving Tree is set up at Storyteller. People can come to pick up a ticket and shop for the child in need. December 18 is the deadline to drop off the wrapped presents, along with the name tag. The gifts can be dropped off at either Storyteller or the Chamber.

Senior Tree

The Senior Citizen Angel Tree is up at the Bank of Thermopolis located at 701 Shoshoni St.

Names of senior citizens in the community may be picked up during business hours. Gifts need to be wrapped and returned to the bank no later than Monday, Dec. 16 to ensure the seniors receive their gifts by Christmas.

Organizations hold Christmas dinner

The Historical Society and the Pioneer Association are hosting their annual Christmas dinner on Sunday, Dec. 8 at the Hot Springs County Senior Center with doors open at noon and dinner at 12:30 p.m.

The event is for members only but you can sign up for memberships at the dinner. Meat, potatoes, rolls and drinks will be provided. Bring a veggie, salad or dessert and your own table service. Call 921-1551 or 864-2678 for more information.

Craft fair

A Christmas Bazaar Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Hot Springs County Fair Building, 627 Springview. A variety of vendors and their goods will be on hand. During the craft fair, a bake sale and fundraiser will be held for Sherican and Debra. Please drop off donated baked goods by 8 a.m.
