Bobcats earn football honors

With the high school football season being now complete, last week the Wyoming Coaches Association released its list of football honors for the 2024 season. Head coaches across the state came together to vote for the players each coach considered most deserving of recognition, for their contributions to their team’s success, in the long and difficult season.

In order to be considered for 2024 All-State Honors, a player must first be recognized as All-Conference in the 2024 season. Each classification, All-Conference and All-State, has a limited number of players who may be selected for recognition.

This year, the Hot Springs High School Bobcats football team finished their season with a vastly improved win/loss record and succeeded in defeating some of the 2A’s most accomplished football teams. Last season, the Cats were just two and seven by year’s end. Having gained a good deal of game-time experience, and having achieved remarkable improvement in their play - in all three phases of the game - the Bobcats went five and three this year, and finished the season just one win short of a trip to the play-offs.

While the team, as a whole, provided an outstanding effort this season, last week, several team players were recognized for their individual accomplishments, and for their individual contributions to their team’s success.

For the Bobcats, outstanding seniors, Chris Arends, Ryan Arends, Del Dukes, Brody Sorensen and Zane Stam were each awarded All-Conference Honors. Junior Cruz Mascorro joined his senior teammates in receiving the All-Conference distinction, and was equally deserving of the honor.

In addition, seniors Del Dukes and Zane Stam were named as All-State Players, in recognition of their remarkable contributions to the Bobcat’s much improved, and greatly successful season. Once again, the recognition was greatly deserving, as each of those players rendered momentous athletic efforts throughout the season, which allowed the team to improve in the conference standings.
