The Lady Cats volleyball team delivered an outstanding effort this season, finishing third in the Class 2A Northwest Quad - with an overall record of 15 and 18, and an in-conference record of 3 and 3. The team finished just one game back in the quad, behind Greybull and Rocky Mountain, who were tied for first place. After their very successful season, the Lady Cats received some significant honors this past week.
With their second place finish at the regional tournament in Lander, four team members were recognized as Class 2A All-Conference players, and were also named All-Regional players: seniors, Lexi Garrison and Hanna Hill; junior, Jayssie Owsley; and sophomore, Davdine King. Outstanding Senior, Hanna Hill, was named to the All-State team for her superb efforts this season.
But, the honors were not limited to team players: thirteen year coach, Shannon Hill, was named the Class 2A Northwest Regional Coach of the Year.
Commenting on the remarkable season, coach Hill stated: “It was a really fun year. The girls worked really hard, and were properly rewarded for their focus and determination. We came just one match short of where we had wanted to be.”
As for next year: “We will graduate five seniors this spring, and will definitely miss their significant contributions to the team. But, we have a great gang of juniors and sophomores coming up, that are super competitive, and are positioned to take over for their senior classmates. Next year should be a good follow up to this year’s success.”
