David Michael Vaughan

David Michael Vaughan passed away on November 10, 2024, in Thermopolis, Wyo. Mike was born on July 7, 1948, in Hood River, Ore., to Harold R. Vaughan and Vada B. Vaughan.

Mike graduated from Oregon State University with a BS in Outdoor Recreation/Science Education. He taught in Medford, Ore., for eight years. Thereafter, he worked for Pacific Power and Light in various states from 1978 to 2001. In 2002 Mike earned his Coast Guard License from Maritime College in Astoria, Ore.

Mike moved to Thermopolis, in the mid 1990s. He was an avid surfer, hunter, fisherman and fishing guide. Over the years he guided in Alaska, Oregon, California and Wyoming. He guided on both the rivers and the ocean.

He is survived by his son, Chris and his family, of Crescent City, Calif.; significant other, Sheila Lutz, of Thermopolis; friend Marci Contreras of Guatemala; beloved nieces and nephews; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his son, Miles.

A memorial service will be scheduled for a later date.
