Capping off an outstanding cross country season, two Bobcat harriers finished in the top ten at the 2A State Championships in Cheyenne and for their efforts each received All-State Honors.
After finishing in second place at regionals, outstanding junior Jadeth Elder was proclaimed state champion, finishing the course with a time of 17:43.80. Elder also had a first place finish at the Wyoming Indian event, earlier in the season. For Elder, it is his second straight year to be named All-State.
Fellow junior Cole Keller finished in ninth place at state, with a time of 18:36.00, and received his first All-State honors. It was a remarkable achievement for Keller, who had commenced the season running the same course at the Wyoming Invitational in August - where he finished 100th overall. Cole had a first place finish at the Bobcat Invitational in October.
Both of these outstanding young men will be seniors next year, and no doubt, will continue to pursue excellence in their sport and make a good showing for the Bobcats. They will be joined, and pushed by two sophomore teammates – Teancum Gevas and Alec Martinez, and by four freshman teammates – Clayton Keller, Ammon Gevas, Trevin Shaffer and Bobby Crow.
The future looks very bright for the Bobcats cross country team.
