1949-2024
Our beloved Ron Jurovich passed in the early hours of October 25, 2024.
He was born in the hospital on Hospital Hill on August 23, 1949, in Thermopolis, Wyo. He was raised in Thermopolis by his parents, grandparents and with his cousins. His family left for a brief time to experience life in Fairbanks, Alaska. He worked through college in the oil field. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from the University of Wyoming. He attended Law School and read law with Jerry Stack in preparation for the Bar Exam. He was admitted to the Wyoming State Bar and the Federal District Court for the District of Wyoming on May 9, 1975. He was later admitted to the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. He was a member of Hot Springs County Bar Association, American Trial Lawyers Association, Wyoming Trial Lawyers Association and the Wyoming State Bar Association and was to receive his 50 year membership pin in September.
He loved to watch Wyoming Cowboy football and basketball and was a member of the Cowboy Joe Club. He was also a member of the Elks Club. Family was the most important thing to Ron, protecting and spending quality time with them. He loved to fish, hunt, hike, ski, snowmobile and just explore the outdoors. He enjoyed working with his hands. As a result, lots of major and minor wood working projects were completed with his family. He was an avid reader, enjoying mysteries, travel, history and science. He enjoyed playing cards both with his family and his friends. His friends were important to him and he would find any excuse to do something in the outdoors with them or join them on a project. He loved to travel, taking trips with his family through Europe, Canada, Mexico, the Bahamas and several states.
He leaves behind his beloved wife and daughter, Jocelyn and Ashley Jurovich; “adopted” daughter, Lori DuBry; several honorary daughters; his chocolate lab, Pyper; as well as a number of cousins and his aunt.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bette and Mudo Jurovich; brother, Craig Jurovich; aunt and uncle, Shirley and Tritz Jurovich; and grandparents, Pete and Kristija Jurovich and Horace and Lola Davis.
The service will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church (642 Arapahoe Street) with a luncheon to follow. Grave side service will be privately held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Youth Alternatives in care of Pinnacle Bank of Thermopolis.
