Edward "Jr." Matheson

1943-2024

Edward Junior "Jr" Matheson, 81, passed away after a tragic fatal car accident south of Worland due to a medical emergency on October 16, 2024. 

He was born on September 17, 1943, in Ogden, Utah, to Edward and Leona Kay (Arnce) Matheson. 

Ed was raised in Gillette, Wyo., graduating from Campbell County High School in 1962, then served four years in the U.S Navy. As a young boy Ed worked for Highway Services Gas Station for his sister Jane and Einar Lodahl and always enjoyed visiting with his customers. Ed spent a short time living in Buffalo, Wyo., with his mother (Leona) and stepfather (Del). Then eventually moved to Worland, where he met the love of his life, Janet Seghetti. The couple was married on December 9, 1968, in Cody, Wyo. In this union their three daughters were born, Debra, Sheridan and Diana.  While living in Worland he worked for Holly Sugar and Crown Cork and Seal. 

Ed and Janet later moved to Meeteetse, Wyo., and lived there for about a year and a half while working in the oil fields. They moved to Thermopolis and on February 19, 1998, Janet passed away after a short battle with cancer. Ed worked in the oilfield most of his career, maintenanced, and he ran the Bah-Gue-Wana Motel with his wife Janet.

Ed married Geneva Mead Gall Hall on July 21, 2002, in Worland. He worked at Big Horn Enterprises until he retired after working fourteen years. Ed's travels included South Dakota, Devils Tower, Hulett and Buffalo, Wyo.

Ed is survived by his beautiful daughters, Debra (Brandon) Ramsey, Sheridan Lendoye (Mike Pennock) all of Thermopolis, Wyo., and Diana Matheson (Lyndon Pierce) of Bar Nunn, Wyo .; stepchildren, John (Kathy) Gall of Casper, Leroy (Betty) Gall, Mindy Gall (grandson Owen) of Idaho, and Harold (Maegan) Gall of Casper; brothers, Trusty (Marilyn) Matheson, and Einar (Janet) Matheson all of Gillette, Wyo .; grandchildren, Porshia (Trever) Birdsley, Dillon (Ashley) Matheson, Clinton (Cathy) Harris, Pamela (Matt) Nicholson, and Cody Pierce; great-grandchildren, Tannen and Taylin Birdsley, Nova and baby Kaesin Harris, Delmonico, Armani and Amuira Dukes, Icess, Le'Ayla, Reilly Matheson, Rhett and Rhiley Nicholson, Karter and Kolson.

Ed was preceded in death by his father and mother, Edward and Leona; stepfather, Delbert Witt; first wife, Janet; second wife, Geneva; bothers, John Calvin, Halbert, Alfred "Budge", and Leonard; sister, Jane (Einar) Lodahl; and granddaughter, Denise Gall. 

Ed loved to talk with his family and friends about cars, guns, fishing, knives and also about his family and friends. He will be truly missed.

A graveside service will be held November 15, 2024, at 2 p.m. at the Riverview Memorial Garden Cemetery in Worland, Wyo. The following day, Saturday, November 16, there will be a Memorial Service at the Agape (Set Free) Church at 2 p.m. in Thermopolis, Wyo.
