Public meeting Tuesday to evaluate water options

The Wyoming Water Development Commission is holding a public meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at 6:30 p.m. at the annex building to evaluate options for providing water to Hot Springs County residents.

Please join them to learn about the Hot Springs County Water Supply Level II Study. Updates at the meeting will include information about possible water supply options based on well siting and access. The purpose of this study is to evaluate existing and potential water supplies for Hot Springs County residents.

This study includes the following tasks: Hold meetings to gather information on the system and identify stakeholders; gather, compile, and review existing information; develop population growth and water demand projections; inventory and evaluate existing water resources, including surface water and WTP; Identify and evaluate reasonable alternatives; prepare conceptual designs and cost estimates for alternatives; review existing water rights; financing—prepare funding plan, budget, resulting water rates for alternatives; seek input from the public and other stakeholders regarding this study, and prioritize and evaluate recommendations; obtain access easements for exploration well drilling, if alternative selected; Prepare a report documenting the work completed under the study.

This update meeting will present findings and seek input on the following: Summary of public input received to date; growth and water demand projections; well siting evaluation and options; water treatment evaluation and options; alternatives and resulting user fees (monthly bills); system governance alternatives; access easements obtained; and next steps.

The project sponsor is the Hot Springs County Rural Water Joint Powers Board.
