Lady Cats face off with Lander

The Lady Cats Volleyball team traveled to Lander on Thursday, October 8 to meet the Lady Tigers for a second time this season. They faced off with Lander at home on September 5 and came away with a win of three to two. The rematch in Lander would, again, prove successful for the Lady Cats.

As the Lady Cats gear up for the final couple of weeks of the season, they played matches in Lander on Thursday, and followed up with a home court event against Worland on Saturday, October 10. Both Lander and Worland are 3A teams, and served as some tough competition to put the Lady Cats into shape to finish out their season with upcoming matches against teams in the 2A Northwest Quad.

The Lady Cats played very competitively against Lander. After dropping the first set by a score of 17-25, the team went on to win three sets of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-21, respectively. Coach Shannon Hill said, “The team played really well, and proved to themselves that they can win against a good team. They didn’t let losing that first set get them down, and ended up leading the last set from start to finish.”

Against Worland, the Lady Cats also played well, but dropped the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-14, respectively. In the third set, the Lady Cats pushed back against the Lady Warriors - going up by 5 at one point, but ultimately losing by a score of 26-24. Commenting on the match, coach Hill said, “Again, the team played really well, we just need to work on holding a lead.”

This week the Lady Cats will travel to Shoshoni on Friday, and then will be at home on Saturday to meet the first place team from Greybull.

Next week the team will travel to Rocky Mountain, to complete their trip around the teams in the 2A Northwest Quad. In a run-up to regionals, which commence on November 1, the Lady Cats will face Wright at home on the 26th.
