Candidate forum
A meet the candidates public forum will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 6 p.m. at the Thermopolis Middle School. Each candidate will have a chance to give a two minute introduction and there will be time to visit with the candidates. All candidates registered to run in the general election have been invited. The event will be live-streamed on the Chamber’s Facebook page. Suggested office specific questions, not candidate specific, can be dropped off at the chamber.
Cast and Blast
Thermopolis Fly Shop will be presenting Cast and Blast the Big Horn on Saturday, Oct. 5 beginning at 5 a.m. The morning will start with a waterfowl hunt followed by fishing on the Big Horn River. Beginners are welcome. There is a charge and a Federal Duck Stamp, active Wyoming Game and Fish License and ID are required to participate. Space is limited. Contact the fly shop at 864-3499 to reserve your spot.
Fire department pizza night
To celebrate National Fire Prevention Week October 6-12, the Thermopolis Volunteer Fire Department has partnered with P6 Station for a pizza party on Thursday, Oct. 10 from 5-7:30 p.m. You can dine in with members of the department or have them deliver the pizza to you in a fire truck (within the city limits). You can preorder by calling P6 at 864-3666.
Book & Bake Sale
HSC Friends of the Library, Fall Book & Bake Sale. Friday, October 11 at 4-7 p.m.; Saturday, October 12 at 8 a.m. until 12 Noon at the Armory. Book donations may be taken to the armory until October 10. A collection bin is located at the west end of the parking lot next to the chain link fence. Books may not be taken inside the building or placed next to the front doors. We cannot accept books the day of the sale. Please call Cindy at 864-2060 with questions.
Historical Society program
The Hot Springs County Historical Society will hold their meeting on Saturday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at the Historical Museum. The featured program will be “Cowboys in the Sky: The Impact of Wyoming’s Climbers on the World of Mountaineering” by Sam Lightner, Jr. He is a lifelong climber who lives in Lander. He is the author of multiple works of fiction and non-fiction, including All Elevations Unknown. He is also the author of Rock Climbing: Wyoming. The meeting is open to everyone. Quilt group meeting
There will be a reorganizational meeting for the Old West Quilt & Fiber Guild on Monday, Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. at Gooseberry Garden Quilt Shop, 521 Broadway. All quilters, knitters, crocheters and sewists are welcome. Call 864-3503 or just stop by the shop to sign up.
