The Hot Springs County High School Golf teams were in Worland last week for the two-day Worland Invite Tournament at Green Hills Golf Course. Green Hills is an eighteen hole public course, which bills itself as the number 3 public course in the State of Wyoming. Ten schools participated in the event.
The Lady Cats finished in third place on the leader board, with scores of 309 and 284, for a total team score of 593 – just eleven strokes off of the first place team from Lander.
All three Lady Cats – Lilly Johnson, Ruth Needham and Madison Shaffer – trimmed strokes off their play in day two, with Madison carding a 95 on day two, a twenty stroke improvement over Day One, to finish at 210. Lilly Johnson finished fourth, at 182, with consistent rounds of 92 and 90. Ruth Needham finished with a total score of 201.
The Bobcats finished in seventh place in the team standings, with a team score of 715. Hayden Overfield carded scores of 88 and 79 – for a total of 167. The boys were a bit inconsistent, from day one to day two, with some players trimming strokes, and others gaining on their day one performance.
Ty Simeral carded a 181; Trevin Shaffer scored a 182; Zerrian Stone scored a 193; Van Epperson scored a 195; Ian Locke scored a 198 and Hayden Johnson carded a 200.
Thermopolis will host the Bobcat Invite at the Thermopolis Golf Course this week with the two day event commencing on Thursday.
