The Hot Springs County Clerk’s office and the Wyoming Secretary of State’s office have released unofficial results from the 2024 Primary Election.
Bob Aguiar received the most votes in the four person republican race for Hot Springs County Commissioner with 528. Phillip Scheel received 428 votes, Mike Chimenti received 337 votes and Joe Martinez received 250 votes. Aguiar will advance to the general election. No democrat candidates appeared on the ballot
In the Senate District 20 race, district wide republican incumbent Ed Cooper received 2,650 votes and republican Tom Olmstead received 2,428 votes. Cooper will advance to the general election. No democrat candidates appeared on the ballot
In the House District 28 race, republican incumbent John Winter received 1,707 votes and Kevin Skates received 980 votes. Winter will advance to the general election. No democrat candidates appeared on the ballot
There were 904 votes for and 789 votes against forming a Hot Springs County Senior Citizen District with a maximum of two mills to be imposed on the district’s taxable property. The formation of the district passed in the primary election. Board members for the district will be voted on in the general election.
For Thermopolis Town Council, Dusty Lewis received 517 votes, Tony Larson 505 and William H. Malloy 370. All three candidates will move on to the general election in this nonpartisan race.
In the highly contested republican precinct committeeman 4-1 race, Chip Axtwell received 455 votes Bob Aguiar received 305, Clay VanAntwerp received 224, Bradyn Harvey received 211 votes, Phil Scheel received 199 votes, Ted Brown received 157 votes and JW received 54 votes. Three positions are available.
For United States Senator, incumbent John Barrasso (R) received 70,473 votes statewide and will move on to the general election. Scott D Morrow (D) will also move on to the general election after receiving 10,088 votes in the primary.
In the United States Representative race, Harriet Hageman (R) received 82,765 votes statewide and will move on to the primary election. Kyle G. Cameron (D) received 10,047 votes and will also move on to the primary election.
