Curtis "Butch" Dean Hendrickson, 75, passed away Saturday, August 3, 2024, at his residence in Thermopolis after a time of declining health.
Born July 6, 1949, in Torrington, Wyo., he was one of three children of Floyd and Mary (Davidson) Hendrickson. Following graduation from Torrington High School he married his high school sweetheart, Linda Henry, June 14, 1968.
He joined the National Guard in Torrington and was employed at a grocery store for a time. The couple moved to Casper where Butch worked at the Boot Barn, then to Douglas working for Strouds Grocery which led to the move to Thermopolis where he was employed at Consumers Grocery. He then worked 18 years in the Cenex Oilfield until the field was sold. For the next 14 years he and Linda owned and operated Butch's Place in Kirby, Wyo., purchased in 1996. Becoming semi-retired he worked at Thermopolis Liquor. The couple enjoyed winters in Arizona.
Butch was a member of the Elks, American Legion, Big Horn Basin Corvette Club and served on the Board of Hot Springs County Senior Citizens. The couple enjoyed boating at Boysen Lake, touring in his Corvette, traveling and spending time with friends and family.
Family cherishing his memory are his wife of 56 years, Linda of Thermopolis; children, Robby (Joy) of Katy, Texas, Andy (Jodi) of Chadron, Neb., and Pamela (Bryan) Lopas of Edmond, Okla .; brother, Jim (Sheila) of Fayetteville, Ga .; and grandchildren, Ryan, Kylie, Kayla, Dylan, Trey and Cali.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Hunter.
Graveside services will be held Friday, September 6, 2 p.m. at Monument Hill Cemetery officiated by the American Legion with a Celebration of Life on Saturday, September 7, 1-5 p.m. at the VFW. Memorials may be made to H.S.Co. Senior Citizen Center, P.O.Box 747, Thermopolis, 82443.
