William 'Matt' Whitt

1953-2024

William Matthew "Matt" Whitt, 70, of Thermopolis, passed away on June, 28, 2024, in Thermopolis, Wyo.

Matt was born on September 1, 1953, in Thermopolis, the first of 5 children of Bill and Jean (Irvine) Whitt.

In 1973 he enlisted in the US Navy. He attended the anti-submarine warfare school in Memphis, Tenn., and was then stationed at the Adak Alaska Naval Base.

He attended nursing school in the 1980's and was well loved by his patients and those he worked with. He was a skilled carpenter and was thankful for the fine carpenters that brought him up through the trades, especially Ike Blakesley.

Matt worked for Ball Aerospace, Boeing, and worked on ranches in Montana and Wyoming, He made an appearance on Only in America- with Larry the Cable Guy.

Matt had a great love for animals and always had a faithful pet by his side. He also loved gardening, photography, and being outdoors. His faith and belief in God was a great comfort to him in his final years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Wade; and nephew, Kailan William.

He is survived by his brother, Mark (Pepper) of Thermopolis; sisters, Robin (John) Wallingford of Casper and Sally (Scott) Bradley of Gillette; numerous nephews and nieces; and a special friend.
