1949-2024
Kenneth "Bud" Paul Weaver, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, in Thermopolis, Wyo., surrounded by his family.
He was born on June 20, 1949, in Traverse City, Mich., to Emma Lorraine (Griffor) and Clarence Willard Weaver.
Bud's family moved to Thermopolis when he was 11 years old after his parents purchased the Boysen Marina. He attended school in Shoshoni and later pursued mechanical studies in Laramie before proudly serving in the Air Force. Bud's career as a heavy equipment mechanic spanned 17 years with McGarvin and Moberly, where he was known for his dedication and skill.
On August 4, 1989, Bud married Tudy DuBry, whom he met at the Elks club in Thermopolis. Their love story was one of persistence and joy, famously encapsulated by Bud's quip that he "chased her till she caught him." Bud embraced his role as a grandfather, particularly cherishing moments like when Tudy's granddaughter asked if he would be her grandpa at just two years old, prompting Bud to propose soon after.
Bud found immense joy in the outdoors, whether it was ice fishing, hunting, or simply relishing nature's beauty. He was an active member in the Elks club and NRA. He was an avid sports enthusiast, enjoying every kind of sport show on TV. His infectious sense of humor and love for jokes brought laughter to all who knew him. Even during his final days, Bud kept spirits high with his teasing nature, giving the nurses a good-natured hard time.
Bud was preceded in death by his father; and brothers, Sam and Gary.
He is survived by his wife, Tudy; mother, Lorraine; daughters, Elaine Reynolds of Thermopolis and Liz (Tom) Ervin of Hiawassee, Ga .; brothers, Richard "Dick" Weaver of Shoshoni and William "Bill" (Barbara) Weaver of Thermopolis; grandchildren, Britni (Carnell "Lee") Deere, Mandi Reynolds, Desiree Jolley, Renaee McMichael and Terry "TJ" McMichael; great-grandchildren, Adriana Deere, Kolby, Aliyah, Piper, Rownan, Kallie VanHeule, Erich, Mariah Pacheco, Roque Pacheco; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
