Scheel announces bid for re-election as county commissioner

Phillip Scheel has announced he is seeking re-election as a Hot Springs County Commissioner.

Scheel was elected to his first term as county commissioner in 2016. He is the co-owner and CEO of Tumbleweed Propane. He is a native Wyomingite, being raised in Pine Bluffs. He went to college at Laramie County Community College, where he served as the Student Senate President.

He has a passion for community service and community progress, and has served at the state and local level of many boards and nonprofits. He was the Thermopolis Citizen of the Year in 2015. He is a graduate of Leadership Wyoming Class of 2019. He was in the inaugural Leadership Academy class of 2024. He served as the Thermopolis FFA Alumni Charter President, and was awarded an FFA Honorary State Degree in 2015. He served on the Thermopolis-Hot Springs Chamber of Commerce board for 11 years. He was awarded the Wyoming State Chamber of Commerce Board Member of the Year in 2017. He is a member of the Thermopolis Rotary Club. He is the Wyoming County Commissioners Association’s Elections, Land Use, and Governmental Operations Committee co-chair.

In his spare time, he coaches the Ag Mechanics Team for Thermopolis FFA, works in his shop, and enjoys watching his kids play sports and do other activities.

He feels it is an honor to have been elected to be a Hot Springs County Commissioner. He wants to uphold the commitment he made to the voters by helping to drive Hot Springs County forward. He sees a future where Hot Springs County continues to have a great quality of life with a growing and diversified economy, bringing more opportunities for our kids to stay here, do what they want to do, and have a great life.
