Tired of apologizing for the eyesores!

I am writing in response to the recent decision to deny the Stevens family the right to operate The Tipi Retreat business on their property based on zoning laws.

I respect that laws must be enforced, and I am very much a follower of laws. However, I find it incredibly ironic that someone can buy a parcel of land at the bottom of Lane 12, and build a junkyard on that property while that land is zoned as what I assume is agricultural.

When I look on the Wyoming Cadastral for that parcel of land, I see the mailing address is for a human at an address in town. Hmmm, are they running a junkyard business on land that is not zoned for them to run a business? Why else would they have dozens of wrecked vehicles on their property if they aren’t either repairing and reselling said vehicles or selling the parts as a junkyard dealer? Wouldn’t that violate a zoning ordinance?

I constantly apologize to all visitors that come to our home on Coyote Run by saying “sorry for the ugly junkyards at the bottom of the hill, I promise the view gets better…”

There is a serious double standard in the Tipi ruling; therefore, I want the junkyards rezoned or put out of business. No one needs 50 wrecked vehicles on their property unless they are parting them out for profit under the table and not paying the correct taxes.
