Track team has strong showing at state

The Hot Springs County High School Track Team qualified for thirty-one spots at the Wyoming High School State Championships – which were held this past weekend in Casper. The local weather proved favorable, and the event saw a number of state records fall in several categories. While none of the local competitors came out on top in their events, all of the qualifiers displayed great efforts, and each met with favorable results.

Highlights for the Lady Cats include:

Jayda Griffin set a personal record in the 1600 meter run (5:51.43), coming in 12th.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the Lady Cats came in 5th, with a time of 52.21, 1) Ina King; 2) Davdine King; 3) Lily Quintanilla and 4) Brooklynn Williams.

In the 4x800 meter relay, the Lady Cats finished 7th, with a time of 4:18.99, 1) Davdine King; 2) Lily Quintanilla; 3) Jayda Griffin and 4) Brooklynn Williams.

Davdine King finished 4th (tie) in the high jump, with a jump of 5-00.00.

Brooklynn Williams finished 7th in the pole vault, with a vault of 9-06.00 – a personal best.

Ina King finished 3rd in the triple jump, with a jump of 36-04.25 – a personal best.

Highlights for the Bobcats include:

Seth Needham finished 6th in the 100 meter dash (11.49); and 2nd in the 400 meter dash (51.27).

Jadeth Elder finished 11th in the 1600 Meter Run (4:46.78); and 10th in the 3200 meter run, with a personal best of 10:29.64.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the Bobcats finished 2nd with a time of 45.33: 1) Seth Needham; 2) Zane Stam; 3) Robert Buckner; and 4) Delmonico Dukes.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the Bobcats finished 3rd, with a time of 3:32.64: 1) Delmonico Dukes; 2) Logan Dafoe; 3 Cole Keller; and 4) Seth Needham.

In the 4x800 meter relay, the Bobcats finished 3rd, with a time of 8:38.09: 1) Ryan Arends; 2) Chris Arends; 3) Logan Dafoe; and 4) Cole Keller.

Anthony Cheatham finished 15th in the discus throw, with a throw of 101-00.

Cody Bomengen finished 12th (tie) in the high jump, with a jump of 5-08.00.

Delmonico Dukes finished 12th in the long jump, with a jump of 19-08.00.

Cole Keller finished 7th in the triple jump, with a jump of 41-07.00 – a personal best.
