On the Record policy

It is the Thermopolis Independent Record’s policy that all people arrested or cited under the “Accidents,” “Sheriff’s office” or “Police department” in the On the Record section are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. We print the names of all people upon their initial arrest.

Friday, May 10

7 p.m. Matthew David Fenton, 33, was arrested for an alleged probation sanction.

Monday, May 6

3:40 p.m. Deputies respond to a traffic complaint on 126 Highway 20 South involving a 58-year-old male who was cited for unsafe driving. 

Tuesday, May 7

9:10 a.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole with a resident check in the 399 block of Broadway Street.

11:30 a.m. Agency assist involving Probation and Parole and K9 Riggs with a compliance check in the Weed Way area. Everything was okay.

1:36 p.m. Report of an argument over a trespass notice in the Sessions Lane area.

8:05 p.m. Report of an ambulance assist on East River Road.

2:15 p.m. Report of a welfare check on a male subject who was found to be okay.

Friday, May 10

1:05 p.m. Deputies investigated an ongoing traffic complaint of a driver who goes at a high rate of speed on a regular basis on the road in the 300 block of North 7th Street.

5:31 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Saturday, May 11

8:50 p.m. Report a welfare check on a female subject on Skelton Road. The subject was okay.

Sunday, May 12

12:45 p.m. Report of a welfare check in East Thermopolis on an elderly male who had wounds needing attention. The subject refused treatment from EMS.

4:18 p.m. Agency assist for the Police Department.

Police Department

Monday, May 6

11:54 a.m. Report of two wheels stolen from a vehicle during the night of May 5 in the 200 block of South 4th Street. There are no suspects at this time.

3:40 p.m. Agency assist for the Sheriff’s Office.

6:25 p.m. Report of a juvenile male who was threatening family members and was sent to a group home.

9:44 p.m. Rusty Jensen, 37, of Basin was arrested in the 400 block of S. 6th Street for allegedly driving while under the influence of a controlled substance, felony possession of a controlled substance, and 6th offense driving while suspended from subsequent DUI’S. 

Tuesday, May 7

9:10 a.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole with a urinary analysis on a 41-year-old male who is on supervised probation. This male tested presumptive positive for controlled substances. This case was forwarded to Probation and Parole. 

2:58 p.m. Report of a shoplifting that occurred in the 500 block of S. 6th Street. 

Wednesday, May 8

12:35 p.m. Investigation of possible animal neglect in a trailer park where contact was made with the owner. 

12:55 p.m. Report of threatening behavior in the 300 block of N. 7th Street. 

12:59 p.m. Report of a juvenile problem at the Thermopolis Middle School involving unruly behavior of a male subject.

2:40 p.m. Report of vandalism in the 300 block of Amoretti Street involving glass windows and fluorescent light bulb tubes that were smashed and shattered. 

Thursday, May 9

9:32 a.m. Agency assist for Probation and Parole in the 400 block of Arapahoe Street.Drake Zephyr Boulden, 22, was sanctioned and transported to Hot Springs County Detention for an alleged probation violation. 

1:55 p.m. Report of a male making threatening statements about shooting up the school that occurred at the Hot Springs County High School. The juvenile was transported to hospital. A mental health doctor determined the subject was not a danger.

Friday, May 10

9:04 a.m. A 51-year-old female was trespassed in the 400 block of Arapahoe Street. 

5:31 p.m. Report of a missing person involving an elderly male patient at the hospital. The male from Cody was located, and the family was notified.

Sunday, May 12

11:17 a.m. Report of a negligent discharged weapon in the 1100 block of Canyon Hills Road. The bullet traveled through the wall into a neighboring apartment and through the exterior wall towards Canyon Hills Road. 

4:18 p.m. A traffic stop was performed on Brenda Lee Tynsky, 58-year-old female, who was arrested for alleged two counts of possession of a controlled substance, marijuana and meth.

7:37 p.m. Whitney Nichole Turnsplenty, 33, of Powell Wyo., was arrested in the 1000 block of Shoshoni Street for alleged second offense driving while suspended for failure to appear, and driving while suspended for operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device.

Circuit Court

Luke Arcand was bound over to District Court for alleged terroristic threats.

Danielle Dearcorn was bound over to District Court for alleged property destruction, $1,000 or more, two counts; driving while under the influence of alcohol, equal to or greater than .08%, second offense within 10 years; and possession of a controlled substance, plant, three ounces or less.

Coalden R. Taylor, careless driving, first offense, fees and fines $250.

Travis Benson was bound over to District Court for alleged failure to register as sex offense, first offense, three counts.

Will John Thompson, criminal trespass, fees and fines $520.

Myndy Laree Rieder, criminal trespass, fees and fines $520.

Birth

Aaila Gurtler was born at 3:29 p.m. on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Hot Springs Health to Nichole and Nathan Gurtler.

She weighed 7 pounds, 4 ounces, and was 19 inches long.

Grandparents are Bruce and Rebecca Gurtler.
