Town council approves Chris Delay to replace Leyba on tourism board

At the May 7 Thermopolis Town Council meeting during citizen participation, Judy Carswell presented a request for parking space closure for the Rusty Old Truck Market on June 22. Mayor Adam Estenson said that the council didn’t need to take action and directed Carwell to coordinate with Chief of Police Pat Cornwell to make arrangements.

The council voted and passed the approval separately of the Double D LLC 24 hour liquor permit for the Figure 8 Races at the Fairgrounds on May 11 and the Central Bank & Trust’s Malt Beverage Permit for their Beers and Brats event on May 23 at 5:30 p.m..

The council also voted and passed the approval to appoint Hot Springs State Park Supervisor Chris Delay onto the board of Hot Springs County’s Travel & Tourism. Delay is taking the spot of Carl Leyba, who did not reapply.

Under Codes and Administration, Assistant to the Mayor Jim Jeunehomme presented a right of way fence request for a property in the 800 block of Mondell Street. The council voted and passed the approval of the request.

Jeunehomme also discussed the Spring Clean set for May 13-18 and the Free Dump Day on Saturday May 18. Additionally, Jeunehomme said that the trees from the new location of the Dollar General store to be constructed will be relocated and replanted in the Candy Jack Park. Mayor Estenson also said they budgeted money for trees in case they “don’t take.”

Mayor Estenson concluded the meeting by reading a proclamation for the Town of Thermopolis stating that May is Mental Health Awareness Month.
