UW president plans visit

The public is invited to interact with University of Wyoming President Ed Seidel and learn more about UW’s collaborations in Hot Springs County. The event will be held on Tuesday, May 14 from 5-7 p.m. at Hot Springs Hotel, 115 Park St.

Free appetizers will be served, and a cash bar will be available.

A brief program will feature President Seidel, who will discuss efforts to prepare students for the modern economy and boost entrepreneurism and the state’s economy. Other presentations planned:

* Department of Geology and Geophysics Professor John Kaszuba, who for many years has studied the hydrothermal system of Hot Springs State Park’s famous springs, will provide an update on his team’s research regarding changes in the waters’ chemistry -- and what that might mean for the future of this important state and community asset.

* Representatives of the the UW Extension office in Hot Springs County will discuss the office’s activities.

* Also, hear from UW students from Thermopolis: Hot Springs County High School graduates Jayci Basse, Alyssa Halls and Tyler Kay.
