Schoenewald to speak at Historical Society meeting

The next meeting of the Hot Springs County Historical Society will be held on Saturday afternoon, May 11 at 2 p.m. at the Historical Museum. The program will be “Honoring Them” presented by Lea Cavalli Schoenewald.

This program will discuss the process Lea Cavalli Schoenewald used to research and write the book, the wonderful help she had throughout, the new information she discovered, stories and pictures she wasn’t able to include in the finished product, and look at the future.

Schoenewald actually spent time in Gebo as a child. Over the years, her appreciation for that time with her grandparent and the other residents of the Kirby Coal District only deepened. She is a retired public school teacher, having taught for 35 years. She has written two books and co-written a third with her husband, T.J.

The meeting is open to everyone who is interested in the history of Thermopolis, Hot Springs County, and the State of Wyoming. Refreshments will be served. For more info, call 307-272-4740, 864-2678, or 921-1551.
