Hot Springs County Library is hosting Dinner and a Movie on the second Thursday of each month through October. Attendance is free and a light dinner will be provided.

Movies will start promptly at 6:05 p.m. The May movie is Brief Encounter and the June movie will be The Pursuit of Happiness.

A meeting regarding the Hot Springs County High School reunion, planned for this summer, will be held via Zoom on Saturday, May 11 at 10 a.m.

If you are interested in helping plan the 2024 reunion or if you are interested in participating in the reunion, contact Shashta Shaffer at shastashafer@gmail.com or (307) 258-9861 to receive the Zoom meeting information.

Reunion weekend is typically the third weekend of July.

Amy Lea, SBA Wyoming District Director, will be hosting a free workshop called Developing a Small Business Summer Action Plan on Tuesday, May 14 from noon-12:45 p.m. at Hot Springs County Library, 344 Arapahoe St.

If you have a small business or side hustle, or are thinking about starting one, you may find this workshop helpful. Topics for discussion include: identifying three key challenges you want to overcome this summer, receive referrals to Wyoming small business resource partners that can support you and begin developing a plan to make it happen.

Thinking about running for an office?

The filing period for town, county, state and federal offices starts at 8 a.m. on May 16, 2024 and ends on May 31, 2024 at 5 p.m.

You can visit the Wyoming Secretary of State website for forms and information regarding running for office. The forms include information about where to file, fees involved, etc.

Hyattville Community Center will host its 20th Annual Cowboy Carnival fundraiser on Sunday, May 26 in Hyattville.

This year’s event offers features Todd Jones, of Hyattville, a Hunting and Fishing Outfitter as well as CC college course instructor, “Packing Demonstration.” Also featuring music by 12-year-old identical twins of Hyattville, Liam and Layne Jordan who have built quite a resume in a short time. New to this event is a demonstration for Basic Colt Training.

Kids’ events will be featured throughout the day including a BB Gun Shoot, 5K Race, Ladder Golf and more.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for kids 12 and under, or $35 for an immediate family, and they still include a ranch BBQ meal. For this year’s Cowboy Carnival, everyone who buys a ticket to the event will receive one raffle ticket to enter into the drawings that occurs during the live auction. Additional tickets will be on sale during the day.
