Boys earn first place finishes on the road

The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat boys track team was on the road again this past week with meets on April 9 in Lander and in Rawlins on April 12. The Cats finished in third place at each meet, with team scores of 131 and 119, respectively.

Highlights from Lander include:

Seth Needham first in the 100 meter dash, 11.97 and second in the 400 meter dash, 51.74.

Davian Martinez seventh in the 110 meter hurdles, 19.80; sixth in the 300 meter hurdles, 47.50 and fourth in high jump, 5-04.00.

Jaye Christensen eighth in the 110 meter hurdles, 19.93 and fifth in the 200 meter dash, 26.45.

Jadeth Elder third in the 1600 meter run, 4:54.53.

Delmonico Dukes third in the 400 meter dash, 56.06, second in 200 meter dash, 25.31 and fourth in long jump, 17-05.50.

Chris Arends sixth in the 400 meter dash, 57.20 and second (3-way tie) in pole vault, 10-00.00.

Ryan Arends first in the 800 meter run, 2:16.11.

Logan Dafoe second in the 800 meter run, 2:16.21.

Cole Keller seventh in the 800 meter run, 2:28.98 and first in triple jump, 40-06.00.

Zane Stam sixth in the 200 meter dash, 27.23.

Michael Stevens sixth in the 3200 meter run, 12:35.20.

Armani Dukes sixth in high jump, 5-00.00.

Dyllan Meyers seventh in pole vault, 9-00.00.

Robert Buckner seventh in long jump, 17-00.25.

Jarek Jeffs seventh in discus throw, 99-09.

Anthony Cheatham seventh in shot put, 39-05.00.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the Bobcats finished first, 3:47.92, Chris Arends, Ethan Yarrington, Cole Keller and Seth Needham.

In the 1600 sprint medley, the Bobcats finished third, 3:55.64, Nolan Collin, Zane Stam, Ethan Yarrington and Jadeth Elder.

Highlights from Rawlins include:

Seth Needham second in the 100 meter dash, 11.74, sixth in the 200 meter dash, 24.15 and first in the 400 meter run, 50.67.

Logan Dafoe fifth in the 400 meter run, 54.65 and eighth in the 800 meter run, 2:30.59.

Jadeth Elder second in the 800 meter run, 2:11.69 and first in the 3200 meter run, 10:51.66.

Ryan Arends fourth in the 800 meter run, 2:13.71 and eighth in long jump, 17-10.75.

Davian Martinez fourth in the 110 meter hurdles, 19.82 and fifth in high jump, 5-04.00.

Van Epperson sixth in the 300 meter hurdles, 49.28.

Chris Arends first in pole vault, 10-06.00.

Cole Keller second in triple jump, 40-07.00.

Robert Buckner fourth in triple jump, 37-09.50.

Jarek Jeffs fourth in discuss throw, 117-05.50.

In the 4x100 meter relay, the Bobcats finished second, 47.92, Chris Arends, Ryan Arends, Cole Keller and Logan Dafoe.

In the 4x400 meter relay, the Cats finished first, 3:40.65, Cole Keller, Chris Arends, Logan Dafoe and Seth Needham.

In the 1600 sprint medley, the Bobcats finished third, 4:21.56, Zane Stam, Brody Sorensen, Ryan Arends and Cole Keller.

Reviewing the season up to this point, coach Boone Bowker commented, “It was really nice to start the season winning a meet at Burlington. It has been a lot years since the Bobcats have won a track meet. I expect the boys team to be competitive this year, and when we move to 2A competition next year, we should be among the better teams in the state.”

The Bobcats will be on the road again this week to compete in Shoshoni on Friday, April 19.
