Wrestlers win first in folkstyle and freestyle

The Thermopolis Wrestling Club (TWC) hosted Wrestle-opolis last Saturday in the Hot Springs County High School gym. The tournament brought 562 kids from clubs throughout Wyoming to compete here.

TWC had 71 kids wrestle in the folkstyle on Saturday and earned first place as a team scoring 950.5 total team points, outpacing second place Casper Wrestling Club by 191 points.

TWC had 33 team members wrestle in the freestyle and scored 377 points to win first place as a team with Powell Wrestling Club in second place with 265 points.

Coach Matt Ryan said, "Thermopolis Wrestling Club appreciates all of the hard work and volunteer time spent in hosting a tournament of this size."

 He added, "TWC is especially proud of all the hard work our wrestlers have put in to be one of the best teams in not only the State of Wyoming but in the Rocky Mountain region. Many club members are getting ready for a run of wrestling in some of the biggest tournaments in the region, cumulating with WAWA State Tournament April 12-14."
