1942-2024
Lois L. Seidel, 81 went to be with the Lord she loved on Thursday January 11, 2024.
Born in 1942 the daughter of Harold and Thelma Griffin in Guthrie Center Iowa, she was the last living sibling of 6 born to her parents.
Married to Harvey Seidel on June 7, 1962, Harvey and Lois celebrated 61 years of marriage in 2023. Lois loved being a pastor's wife and was a Sunday School teacher as well as working in all aspects of the church ministry.
She, along with her husband, were missionaries here in the states doing new church work for 30 years before coming to Thermopolis in 1994. Lois loved to help in the new churches she and her husband started, being an encouragement to the pastor's wife and secretary to her husband.
Lois worked for White Horse Feed as a bookkeeper and worked as secretary to First Baptist Church. She enjoyed being a part of the ladies' ministry, funeral dinners, and visitation.
Harvey and Lois had four boys, Keith Seidel (Lisa), Cody, WY; Kenneth Seidel,(Teresa), Worland, WY; Jonathan Seidel, Sheridan WY and Joseph (Zeb) Seidel (Flaviane), Granite Bay, CA. They have 8 grandchildren, Jonathan; Joshua; Justin; Jesse; Kelly; Bridget, Brooke and Julie. They also have 6 great grandchildren (4 boys and 2 girls): Theodore; Oliver; Aria; Jamison; Timber and Huntley.
She enjoyed being a part of the ladies' ministry, children's programs, funeral dinners and visitation.Lois loved to cook and was a master of stretching a meal to serve "a few more". She had a servant's heart and was cook for church camp and for family gatherings. While cooking was her great joy, she hated sewing and was glad she didn't have to make her own clothes.
Always the "lady," Lois tried to be an example of what a Christian lady would be. She always had a smile and a hug for family and friends. She had a great prayer life and while she endured much pain, she was always grateful to the Lord for His working in her life. Coming home from Billings one year, a rock off an approaching truck came through the windshield of their car and hit her in the chest. What followed was many surgeries and much pain over the years trying to overcome that accident. She developed dementia in 2020 and her constant decline in memory made her life a struggle. She stayed at home until the last week of her life when she was admitted to TRW. Her going to heaven was peaceful and painless. She will be missed greatly by her family and her husband.
Burial will take place on Tuesday, January 16. Memorial service and celebration of life will be on Friday, January 19, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Thermopolis.
Mortimore Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online messages may be offered at http://www.mortfh.com.
