Mother and father, Cyndal and Cameron Burrows, welcomed their daughter Amelia Koda Burrows as the first baby born in 2024 at Hot Springs Health on January 9 at 4:27 p.m. Amelia was 19 inches long and weighed 6 pounds, 2 oz. Dr. Hallie Bischoff helped perform the delivery, her sixth first baby of the year in a row.
Regarding the birth, Cyndal said, "Everybody said it would take a day. It did not take a day. We came in hoping to have her today because two years ago, today's the day he proposed to me. So we were trying to have our day planned, started the induction yesterday, and then she decided that she didn't want to wait. Three hours of active labor and one big push later and she came out."
Regarding how Cyndal was feeling, she said, "Pretty good. I'm tired, but good. The family got to visit her today. Grandparents got to say hello and great, great grandparents."
Cameron was born and raised in Thermopolis. Cyndal added, "I call Louisiana home. But my family's from here. We've been in and out of Wyoming my whole life pretty much."
Cyndal works at Thermopolis Middle School and also coaches the high school cheer team. Cameron is a long-term employee of Thermopolis Hardware.
Amelia is their first child. Cyndal also said, "It's worth it. That's what I'll say."
Representatives from the Hospital Auxiliary provided a variety of gift items for the new parents and their baby. Some of the items included blankets, diapers, plush dolls and many other essential things.
