TMS wrestlers continue to bring home championships

Last Friday, 17 members of the Thermopolis Middle School Wrestling Team took the mat at the Shoshoni Junior High Wrestling Tournament, with 14 of those individual wrestlers placed in the top four of their weight class.

Six bobcat champions were crowned including: Fischer Lewis (77 lbs.), Tanner Myers (84 lbs.), Trenton Enis (98 lbs.), Tanner Delay (120 lbs.), Hailey Robinson (Girls 81 lbs.) and Briar Lahoe (Girls 107 lbs.).

Four wrestlers placed second at their weight including Garret White (77 lbs.), Izzie Hetzel (Girls 107 lbs.), Brayli Price (Girls 116 lbs.),and Taylin Birdsley (Girls 138 lbs.).

Grapplers earning third place include Ryker Sayler (84 lbs.), Jack Morningstar (126 lbs.) and Elena Ketner (Girls 95 lbs.).

Samuel Johnson placed fourth at 105 lbs.

The team placed an impressive second overall out of ten teams. 

Coach Toby Emery said, “The team wrestled with intensity and fought hard all day long. As a coach, it’s always a highlight to see the kids earn success through their hard work and dedication.”

He added, “The kids were focused, wrestled with confidence,  and had fun! With that being said, we still need to focus on our last two competitions, which is a quad in Cody on Tuesday, November 28 at 4 p.m. and our middle school conference tournament which we will be hosting on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 10 a.m. Please come and support the middle school wrestling team!
