An attendees take on the state GOP meeting

Weston county hosted the latest quarterly state GOP meeting recently in historic and scenic Newcastle. The Friday evening dinner was a chuckwagon style affair followed by a local singer with a great voice. A “refugee” from California had the crowd laughing at his simple Will Rogers style of humor & stories. There was a competitive Jeopardy style contest based on quotes from an array of our nation’s forefathers.

Saturday was down to business for each county’s Republican Chairman and State Committeeman and woman. Approximately twenty of the counties were represented.

The body was addressed by State Treasurer Curt Meier. Secretary of State, Chuck Gray, presented an impassioned address on his and his staff’s efforts to maintain election integrity in

Wyoming. He presented a contrasting account of the heated exchange between himself and state senator Cole Case. Video bears out that there were agenda errors ref. the committee meeting in Cheyenne, that Cole was testy about. Certainly appeared to me that Mr. Cole was rather rude.

Other speakers from the GOP confirmed Chuck’s statements a couple weeks ago, that there seems to be a definite plan for overreach by the BLM to restrict (in various ways) the utilization of OUR public lands. I believe citizens of Wyoming need to keep a very close eye and ear on future proposals the BLM is sponsoring for vast acreages in and of our counties.

Crook county State Committeewoman Sherry Davis reported buses of illegal aliens unloading in Casper routinely. It was stated that it is bad enough that Wyoming citizens have been squeezed out of, or denied the ability to utilize temporary housing in Natrona county.

Marti Halverson introduced four college students actively engaged in conservative issues on their campuses. GabeSaint (a sophomore) attending the University of Wyoming was a State Committeeman by proxy for Albany county. He described efforts of himself, others, and Turning Point USA to allow conservative voices on our campuses.

A variety of sound resolutions were brought to the floor. One particularly well crafted one was presented by Cheryl Aguiar and her team from Hot Springs County. The resolution was in Support of Biological Women/Females/ Girls. With very little discussion it was passed unanimously.

Lincoln County’s resolution in efforts to Limit Property Tax in Wyoming also passed unanimously.

Albany County’s concise resolution supporting Israel and Peace was also passed.

Washakie County’s very well worded resolution against obscene material in public schools was postponed due to requests for more information from Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction on her new guidelines on the matter.

With a great deal of input from the attendees, the Wyoming State Republican Party comprised a list of legislative action and efforts the body wants pursued, such as:

A. Election Integrity (revision of Title XXII)

B. Parental Rights

C . Border Security- Illegal Immigration

D. Pro-life

E. Crime-Drugs (no legalization of marijuana)

F. Public Review of Governmental Overreach (State & Federal)

The next quarterly State Republican meeting is to be hosted by Bighorn County in Lovell, Feb.-10, 2024.
