Season ends for Bobcat varsity football just short a playoff spot

The Thermopolis Bobcat varsity football team finished their season in fifth place in the 2A West Division. The Cats went 2 and 4 in the conference standings, with a 2 and 7 overall record. The top four teams from the East and West Divisions were elevated to the class 2A quarter-finals of the state playoffs.

In conference standings, the team ranked eleventh in team rushing with 119 average yards per game on the ground, for a total of 1,067 rushing yards. They averaged 7 rushing first downs per game, and scored 8 rushing touchdowns on the season.

In team passing, the Cats finished tenth, with an average of 72 passing yards per game, for a total of 644 yards through the air – scoring 6 touchdowns, and averaging just under 3 first downs per game through passing. Overall, the Bobcats finished in eleventh place in team offense.

In team defense, the Cats finished the season ranked seventh, giving up just 261 yards per game, and allowing just over twenty points per game. The team finished eighth in both passing defense and rushing defense.

Quarterback, Armani Dukes, finished tenth in passing, with 69.7 yards per game, and 15.3 yards per completion. He went 41 for 120 for attempts, with 6 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. Del Dukes finished sixth in kick returns with an average of 22.6 yards per attempt, and a long of 43.

Linebacker, Zane Stam, finished the year ranked eighteenth in defense, with over seven tackles per game, for a total of 69 tackles for the year. His fellow linebacker, Ryan Arends, ranked twenty-ninth in defense, with 64 tackles on the season.
