The varsity Bobcat football team kicked off their regular season against Tongue River last Friday falling to the Eagles 24-0. They host Kemmerer this Friday in their West Conference opener beginning at 5 p.m.

The varsity Lady Bobcats competed at the Cody Border Wars tournament last week losing to Fergus, Mont., 25-23, 20-25, 25-19, 25-16 and winning against Park 25-22, 25-19, 31-29. The girls are up next Friday and Saturday in Rawlins.

The Bobcats golfers played the first day of a two day invite in Buffalo last week. For the boys, Hayden Overfield shot a 78, Hayden Johnson a 91, Van Epperson a 101, Camden Weyer a 119, Ian Locke a 124, Joseph Budd a 130 and Zerrian Stone a 131. For the girls, Lily Johnson shot a 108, Madison Shaffer a 115 and Maggie Landon a 127. The golf team is up next at home in a dual against Kemmerer on Friday beginning at 10 a.m.

The Hot Springs County High School Bobcat Cross Country team travel to Buffalo on Friday, Sept. 1 for the Buffalo Invitational meet. Varsity runner, Jayda Griffin crossed the finish line in 24:14.30, earning a 30th place finish. On the JV side, Ava Dafoe finished in 28:28.39 for 33rd place and Camille Rodriguez finished in 37:05.35 for 46th place. The boys team was led by Jadeth Elder’s time of 19:14.99, putting him in 24th place. Cole Keller clocked a 19:45.52 for 28th place and Jesse Rodriguez ran a 20:20.12 for 33rd place. Rounding out the Bobcat varsity runners was Seth Needham 42nd place finish with a time of 21:29.36. For the boys JV race Teancum Gevas had a time of 21:50.44 for 23rd place and Alec Martinez had a time of 26:32.75 for 44th place. The Thermopolis Middle School cross country team attended the Lander Invitational meet on Thursday, Aug. 31. Girls scores are Creighlee Williams, 18:49.02; Emma Dean, 19:41.30; Ruth Needham, 20:30.11; Paisley Logan, 20:59.90; Kylie Geis, 21:26.64; Jadriene Jeffs, 25:50.67; Kimber Jeffs, 30:38.52. Boys times were Ammon Gevas, 14:32.69; Trevin Shaffer, 14:52.38; Tanner Myers, 15:17.05; Clayton Keller, 15:25.03; Orion Jenks, 17:12.59; Christian Eplin, 17:16.35; Apollo Jenks, 17:38.50; Cameron Martinez, 17:42.08; Joel Skelton, 18:40.59; Allen Thurman, 19:33.23; Aidan Cleare, 20:28.27; Braxton Egger, 21:30.92; Walker Sanning, 24:04.36; Aiden Borgen, 26:45.79. Cross country is up next at Riverton on Thursday beginning at 1 p.m.
