High school gymnasium floor face lift

Members of the Thermopolis Rotary, the Chamber of Commerce, school administration and activities department cut the ribbon on the newly designed Hot Springs County High School Gymnasium floor and commons area on Monday, August 21. The new gymnasium floor was designed with help from the high school art department, under the direction of Jennifer Emery. It includes local murals down the sideline depicting Round Top Mountain, T-Hill, Monument Hill, and our famous Hot Springs. The Hot Springs Bobcat trademark has been the official school decal since 2008, when then high school student Josh Rathbun, a 2008 graduate of HSCHS designed the logo after a cease and desist letter came to the district from Montana State University due to logo similarities. The Bobcat logo with the embedded Thermopolis T has been the legal trademark of the district for 15 years. "I love it because it was designed by one of our very talented students. It is unique and I believe captures the essence of Bobcat country here in Thermopolis. Josh is a talented young man; it is cool to think about him being able to tell his children and grandchildren about designing the logo," shared HSCSD #1 Superintendent Dustin Hunt. The newly designed commons area incorporates Bobcat purple and gold throughout, and a new digital display for the Hall of Fame and record boards.
