Livestock sale brings in more than $266,000

The 2023 Junior Livestock Auction and Judges' Choice Bake Sale brought in a record breaking $266,429.75, up from $218,963.26 last year. Official results from the live sale and baked good silent auction have been released.

Twenty-seven head of beef came through the ring this year and sold for an average of $5,877.18 per head for a total sales amount of $158,683.75. The average price per head was up from last year's average of $4,628.40. The average price per pound was $4.82, compared to $3.81 last year.

Taylor Agar's Grand Champion steer was purchased by Thermo Vista for $8.50 per pound for a total of $10,752.50, making it the high selling steer.

The number of swine sold at auction was up from 21 last year to 27 this year that sold for a total of $75,794.00 , up from $61,111.50 last year. Average price per head this year was $2,807.19, down slightly from last year's $2,910.07. The average price per pound was $10.91, compared to $11.38 last year.

The Copper Coo purchased the Grand Champion swine of Chloee Owsley's for $19 per pound for a total of $4,807, making it the highest price per pound.

A total of 17 sheep sold at the auction for $26,292, up from $26,907.50 last year for 21 head. The average price per head this year came out to $1,546.59, up from $1,281.31 last year. The average price per pound was $12.24, compared to $10.19 last year.

Tymber Eckley's Grand Champion sheep was purchased by Heath and Bobbie Overfield for $21 per pound bringing in $3,150, also making it the high selling sheep.

One goat was auctioned off. Remi Adams sold her Grand Champion to Vicklund Pharmacy, who paid $32 per pound for a total of $2,048. Last year four goats averaged $2,032.50, for an average of $7 per pound.

The total for baked goods sold at silent auction was $3,215, down from $3,945 last year. The high seller was made by was Karsyn Ivie and sold to TAK Electric for $450.
