Hot Springs County High School graduate Emme Norsworthy shined at her first College National Finals Rodeo placing fifth in the nation in the barrel racing, representing the University of Wyoming (UW). Her four-run total time was 56.97 seconds.
Norsworthy placed eighth in the first go with a time of 14.35.
In the second go, Norsworthy and her barrel racing mare flew around the course with an amazing time of 13.96 coming in second place.
Norsworthy had a time of 14.28 in the third go to secure 13th place.
In the short go, Norsworthy tied for tenth place with a time of 14.34
Norsworthy, a 2021 HSCHS graduate, is attending UW majoring in agricultural business management. She is a 5th generation rancher in HSC. She is the 2020-21 girls cutting WYSRA state champion and a three time National High School Finals Rodeo qualifier. Her parents are Billie Jo and Jason Norsworthy.
The UW Cowgirls Rodeo Team came in third place overall at the finals. The Cowgirls made a final push to score 382.5 points during the weeklong competition. The University of West Alabama won the CNFR's women's competition with 698.3 points, while Montana State University was the national runner-up with 593.3 points.
