Thermopolis FFA Chapter honors members, citizens at banquet

The 85th annual Thermopolis FFA Chapter banquet was held last week and several members and area citizens were recognized during the evening.

A recap was given of all awards handed out at State Convention.

A.M. Hartwig was the very first ag teacher at Hot Springs County High School in 1938. In honor of his outstanding influence on the Agriculture Education Program, individuals who have gone above and beyond to support the Thermopolis FFA Chapter and its members were recognized including Ryan Shaffer, Chip Axtell, Kati McCumber, Linda McCumber, Jessica Ream, Trina Slover, Dale Andreen, Dee Hillberry, Lisa Shaffer, Heath Overfield and John Gibbel.

Members recognized for showing amazing leadership were freshman Madi Shaffer, sophomore Hayden Overfield, junior Tucker Lake and senior Kallie Van Heule.

Honorary members are farmers, school superintendents, principals, members of boards of education, chapter advisors, teachers, staff members in agriculture education, business people and others who have rendered outstanding service. This year’s honorary members are Alyssa Green, Trina Slover, Dave Slover, Bobbi Overfield, Heath Overfield, Linda McCumber, Colter McCumber, Clay Shumway, Amberlie Shumway, Amanda Moeller, David Evans, Josh Longwell and Holly Longwell.

Kaycee Stothart was named the Star Greenhand. The award is presented to one outstanding freshman each year.

Bridger Peil was named Rising Star agribusiness and Maile McCumber was named Rising Star placement. Hanna Hill was named Continuing Star and Sydney Shaffer and Simon Ream were named Outstanding Star.

State Degree recipients are Gavin Shumway, McCoy Longwell, Chase Moeller, Owen McCumber, Morgan Slover, Lexi Overfield and Kallie Van Heule.

Members who lettered in FFA were recognized including freshman Lainie Boren, Kamryn Farrell, Taylor Ivie, Maile McCumber, Bridger Peil, Jay Ritchey, Camille Rodriguez, Alix Sorenson, Levi Stark, Kaycee Stothart, Madison Shaffer and Brodie Taber; sophomores Rylee Agar, Taylor Agar, Maddison Andreen, Lance Axtell, Patrick Chapel, Tymber Eckley, Hanna hill, Brooke Hubele, Tera Kraushaar, Hayden Overfield and Nevaeh Brill; juniors Kaitlin Barral, Kaia Galovich, Jayda Griffin, Tucker Lake, Porter McCumber, Kale Odell, Simon Ream, Sydney Shaffer and Brooklyn Williams and seniors Kallie Van Heule, Morgan Slover and Lexi Overfield.

Members who maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout the school year include Kamryn Farrell, Maile McCumber, Jayssie Owsley, Madison Shaffer, Alix Sorensen, Kaycee Stothart, Brodie Taber, Hanna Hill, Tera Kraushaar, Hayden Overfield, Sydney Shaffer, Morgan Slover and Lexi Overfield.
