The Bobcat golfers had two events last week at home on Thursday and Cody on Friday.
Coach Brandon Deromedi said, “The highlight last week was getting some of our younger high school golfers and middle school golfers into some tournament action.”
On Thursday, May 4, Lander brought a group of JV and middle school athletes to compete with the Bobcats in a dual.
“This allowed a bunch of our younger players/beginning golfers an opportunity to learn how tournaments work and to get some of the nervousness out in a smaller setting. I think most of the kids enjoyed their time playing and learned a lot. The weather was not cooperative but we didn’t hear a complaint from any of the athletes,” said coach Deromedi.
Scores include:
JV boys - Lance Axtel 58, Joseph Budd 58, Hayden Berry 68, Marcus Page 73.
JV girls - Ruthanne Johnson 66, Sydney Shaffer 74.
Middle school boys - Jarrett Cornell 52, Brody Welch 55, Camden Weyer 60, Mac McCumber 62, Dallon Basse 65.
Middle school girls - Amelia Strickland 74, Reagan Huckfeldt 75.
On Friday, the Bobcat varsity boys and girls, along with some middle school athletes went to compete in the Cody Spring Invite.
“Conditions were very tough in Cody and included a 50 minute lightning delay. Cody’s course is very challenging on a nice day, so the athletes were faced with a tough course paired with tough conditions but we still saw some PRs and success,” said coach Deromedi.
Scores include:
High school boys - Hayden Overfield 10th 90, Hadley Johnson 13th 93, Jonah Needham 15th 95, Spencer Calhoun 98, Nolan Collins 102. Boys were 4th as a team.
High school girls - Madison Shaffer 11th 119, Lily Johnson 12th 128, Dazlynn Hunt 13th 132, Maggie Landon 156. Girls were 4th as a team.
Middle school boys - Trevin Shaffer 6th 96, Hayden Johnson 7th 100, Ty Simeral 8th 100.
Middle school girls - Ruth Needham 2nd 125.
The team now turns their attention to the last week of the spring season. The Bobcats will be competing in Worland for the 2A spring championship this week. “We look forward to prep days at practice and then will be competing on Thursday and Friday,” said coach Deromedi.
Tee times are set for 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 11 and 9 a.m. on Friday.
