Thank you for efforts toward limited urban ag

Thank you to all the supporters of the Limited Urban Agriculture program. From the local 4H and FFA, the Wyoming University extension office and the individual members of the community who supported and gave wisdom toward this effort. We have partnered this proposal with the hope that people and organizations within this community would step up while lending their strengths to the effort, and they have.

We’d also like to thank the city council and the mayor for their receptivity to this process. This plan was examined, scrutinized and adjusted to best fit Thermopolis’ growing need for sustainability. The allowance of this probationary plan is centered in just that. With world events and the uncertainty of food sources, we want to see people have the right to be self productive and now each citizen has that ability (legally), to head in that direction.

I’ve quoted a few scriptures along the path that speak to this effort.

Proverbs 13:23 The fallow ground of the poor would yield much food, but it is swept away through injustice.

The word injustice has further definition as the lack of a correct just verdict, especially a sentence or formal decree), right, or privilege, law, to govern, rule.

Ecclesiastes 5:9 Moreover the profit of the land is for all; even the king is served from the field.

Proverbs 14:4 Where there are no oxen, the manger is clean, but abundant crops come by the strength of the ox.

1 Chronicles 12:32 men who had understanding of the times, to know what they need to do

We have now seen a just action taken by the current council. This will lead to unused, unproductive portions of land to reach their full potential all while extending the abilities of those already yielding much fruit. As this happens, the current city, it’s government and citizens will benefit from this added produce and income.

As stated in the meeting last week (the video can be found on YouTube), the (controllable) mess animals make is worth the reward, for there is now hope for profit. As we’ve heard “you have to break a few eggs to make an omelet,” and a chicken can give us those eggs.

Thermopolis now has people in position who understand the times and not only that, have the wisdom and knowledge to do the right thing. We need to look at the shepherd on the hill rather than the hypothetical wolf in the forest. There are some smart and very passionate people on the council and throughout this community that have deemed this a viable decision. If it had been proven otherwise, this effort would have faded years ago. 1 Corinthians 13:7 mentions that love hopes the best for every situation, I trust we can all do just that.

New leadership has been elected and a new law has been made, the only step that seems correct is to move forward with hope for our future.

Thank you again.
